Improvements on the Cards for Kingsmead Square
Plans to improve a key part of Bath city centre are about to move forward, thanks to the efforts of HPH Commercial Property and the Bath BID team.
A planning application to close surrounding roads to traffic and allow businesses to expand their outdoor dining area is being put forward by the Bath Business Improvement District (BID) to BANES Council.
HPH Commercial Property has been actively involved in the rejuvenation of the area for many years, dating back to the 1995 refurbishment of the Square which saw improvements to the traffic systems, pedestrian access and more.
Working with the Council, HPH has also paid for the lights in the large central tree and funded their installation, creating a focal point for the area.

HPH has facilitated and funded the design work and planning of this latest round of improvements, working with the Bath BID team.
Lindsay Holdoway said, “Kingsmead Square is becoming an increasingly important hub of both daytime and evening entertainment and leisure in Bath City Centre, sitting between the Odeon Cinema, Theatre Royal and Komedia.”
“The area hosts a variety of cafes and restaurants, and nearby hotel developments including the Premier Inn, Gainsbrough Spa and Kingsmead House will mean Kingsmead Square will see increased footfall over the coming years.”
“The changing demands of this area mean policies and investment need to keep pace to deliver an amenity for the benefit of local people, businesses and tourists. We are delighted to be working with the BID team to develop and deliver a vision for Kingsmead Square.”
