NEW TECHNOLOGY HELPS CHIPPENHAM BUSINESSES SAVE ENERGY
Commercial property experts HPH Property are a step ahead of the credit crunch when it comes to saving money on behalf of their tenants.

HPH Commercial Property is one of the leading independent property companies in the region and is constantly trying to innovate for the benefit of its tenants. When energy prices began to rise dramatically in spring 2008 the Company took the decision to invest in new technology for its Bewley House offices situated in central Chippenham.

HPH spent several thousand pounds installing a new "Powerperfector" plant to help reduce energy costs even further for all tenants and increase energy efficiency for the entire office block.

The new technology at Bewley House is the world’s only Voltage Power Optimiser (VPO) unit which manages the correct supply of electricity to all types of appliances in the building including all motor based equipment (such as the lifts and air fans), IT equipment and lighting.

Already installed at many high profile buildings, and by some of the biggest brand names in the UK, including ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Hilton Hotels, Fitness First and Burger King, the new technology has reduced energy costs and carbon emissions for Bewley House, Chippenham by a substantial 15%. This means that the 18,000 sq ft office building is saving (approx) £3000 a year and HPH is passing these savings on to its tenants.

In addition to big cost savings and a reduction in the building’s carbon footprint, the Powerperfector also substantially increases the working life and reduces maintenance requirements on equipment, appliances and lighting, providing tenants with further savings.

"With an extremely volatile energy market and predictions for further electricity price increases in 2009 it is important that we do all we can to help our tenants in a very challenging economic climate. The ability to pass on direct savings to tenants is vital, as well as reducing energy wastage and our impact on the environment. We have been assessing this technology for a while and the Powerperfector has proved itself with other organisations, notably Tesco. The Powerperfector can only be used where there is a three phase power supply which tends to be larger buildings. We are currently assessing a similar product for smaller, single phase installations which is to be launched in March.

At the time we installed the Powerperfector at Bewley House we also committed to a three year supply of green energy from EDF which means these changes have enabled us to deliver green power at the same cost as the previous supply," said Lindsay Holdoway, Managing Director of HPH Commercial Property.
