SUBWAY’S JOURNEY EXTENDS TO TROWBRIDGE
Outlet will pioneer new national style
SUBWAY’S JOURNEY EXTENDS TO TROWBRIDGE
Global sandwich chain Subway has secured a prime location on Trowbridge’s main thoroughfare where it’s set to pioneer a new look for all its outlets.

Working closely with the building’s owner HPH Commercial Property, Wiltshire based firm Obento, which runs nine other Subway franchises between Basingstoke and Taunton, including the outlet in Devizes, will begin an extensive refit this month and will be ready by the end of the year.

The 1,620 sq ft Grade 2 listed property will be converted to include ground floor service areas and seating on the first floor as well as in the recently renovated rear courtyard.

The town was an obvious choice of location for a Subway branch according to Obento’s managing director Mark Openshaw.

“Trowbridge is a vibrant and growing market and this, coupled with demand for freshly prepared hot and cold sandwiches, made it an ideal location for us to open our 10th branch,” explained Mark. “We had been looking for the right site and we immediately recognised that the Fore Street property combines sufficient space with the best location.”

The Trowbridge branch will adopt a new, more contemporary interior design which will eventually be rolled out across Subway branches nationally.

Lindsay Holdoway, managing director of HPH Commercial Property, who worked closely with Subway’s own property division, said, “Subway has a good reputation for identifying locations which will generate a high volume of traffic. The fact the chain has taken on a 15 year lease of the property is a strong sign of their confidence in Trowbridge as both a long-term location and profitable marketplace.”

Subway was introduced to HPH through Carter Jonas Commercial in Trowbridge, where partner Colin Scragg welcomed the national chain’s arrival to the town.

"Trowbridge is increasingly vibrant and the addition of a major food outlet to the main shopping street shows the confidence that national businesses feel about trading in this part of Wiltshire. The arrival of Subway is a major boost for the county town and a welcome indicator of the health of its economy."

HPH Commercial Property specialises in acquiring, managing and leasing retail, leisure and office buildings within Wiltshire and its surrounding areas.
